I have no problem with Madrid
UEFA President Michel Platini insists that he has no qualms about Real Madrid’s decision to break the world transfer record by spending close to 100 million euros for Gareth Bale.
“I have no problems if the club who is buying has the sufficient funds to be able to pay,” Paltini explained in an interview with L’Equipe today. “If Real Madrid were to buy three players valued at 30 million euros each, there wouldn’t be such a fuss”.
“But, is Bale worth 100 million? That’s another issue up for debate,” the UEFA President continued.
Platini is eager to uphold UEFA’s Financial Fair Play regulations which prevent clubs from spending more money than they earn.
The Guardian: Liverpool "braced" for Madrid Suárez bid
Newspaper The Guardian has reported that Liverpool are “braced” for a late push from Real Madrid to sign Luis Suárez. According to the publication, Anfield manager Brendan Rodgers has repeated that the 26-year-old is not for sale.
The Guardian underlines Suárez’s desire to join Madrid - his first choice since declaring his desire to leave the Reds. It also touches on Arsenal’s interest in signing the Uruguayan, but adds that the North London club appears to have refocused its sights on Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema.
The British newspaper insists that Liverpool will rebuff any offer that arrives from Madrid in the final stages of the summer transfer window.
